Continental Divide Trail/ Lobo Overlook - This hike can be easy or moderate depending on how far you hike. It features a 360 panoramic view of the surrounding San Juan Mountain range. To get to the trailhead, go East on Highway 160 about 25 miles just past the Continental Divide summit. Take a left on the road just across from the Continental Divide sign. Drive 1.5 miles to the Lobo Overlook parking area and microwave tower site. The trail starts right behind the microwave tower. Here you feel truly on top of the world. The trail is relatively level for the first mile, then it starts to descend down afterwards and becomes more difficult. The entire trail is 80 miles as it traverses several mountain areas.

Piedra River Trail - For sheer cliffs, rushing rivers, and great fly fishing, the Piedra River Trail is a easy to moderate hike with gorgeous box canyons. To get to the trailhead, take Piedra Road north 16 miles. After crossing the Piedra River, park in the parking area on the right. Cross Piedra Road and hike up the hill to the trail. Sheer cliffs rise on both sides of the river. After about 2 miles, the trail descends to a flat area along the river. The trail remains easy for the first 3.5 miles, then it starts getting more moderate for the remaining 8.5 miles to the bridge on the First Fork of the Piedra Road.
